Cycling in Lanzarote Review by Guest Bob Mercer

Being based at your excellent villa, Villa Maxim, in Oasis de Nazaret (‘where all the VIP’s live’) I enjoyed road cycling uphill, against the prevailing northerly win, to Haria – where there is a market on Saturdays featuring ‘made in Lanzarote’ goods only – and then on to Mirador del Rio (for a fabulous view over the island of Graciosa). I then slipped over to the coastal plain on the east of the island (towards Arrieta) and flew south – wind behind, flat – back to Nazaret.
Other routes go south to La Geria and Yaiza – more gently rolling terrain (but remember the contrary wind coming back!). The road surfaces are generally excellent (avoid smaller red routes – they’re bone-shakers on a road bike).
To avoid the heat of the day I set of early on the bike – was joined by the family for midday 1100-1600 – then cycled home.

The URL for the cycling guys
www.lanzarote-bikes.com – top quality bikes (Felt) – good support – Thomas will deliver and collect. They also provide an excellent map showing ‘scenic routes’.
